Indonesia is currently developing a plan to impose new customs duty on digital products, including the imposition of GST and services tax on digitally delivered products. While the duty is currently to be set at zero, the compliance costs, paperwork and precedent are deeply troubling. This action will break the existing WTO moratorium and be problematic to implement.
The ABTA is planning to respond to the Indonesian Government’s plan. Possible actions include an event with Indonesian Government, a position paper or a workshop.
The ABTA would like to request for inputs, comments and suggestions from ABTA members for the Indonesia plan. ATBA team will communicate the finalized plan to all members.
